This is why.

This is why.

One of the reasons I started Laurie Milligan comes directly from my day job. I spend my days convincing businesses why the transition to sustainable business is worth doing, and why it's actually good for them. I decided I didn't just want to make that argument. I wanted to be it.

Laurie Milligan is my proof of concept.

It brings together my love of making things and my passion that business can be for good.

The case for natural fibres isn't only environmental. The benefits are personal as much as they are planetary. Clothing made from 100% natural fibres feels better against your skin, allows you to breathe, and doesn't release microplastics into the water with every wash.

I appreciate something Nick Morrison wrote in Kiwis for Climate: “sustainability is a journey, but it's also a destination.” The solutions already exist for many of our problems, we just have to choose them. That's why we use 100% organic cotton thread, corozo nut buttons, and only natural fibres. Not because we've solved everything, but because we can do this today, and so we are.

As Laurie Milligan grows, we'll keep looking for ways to improve, including the energy that powers us and what happens to our garments when they’ve lived their life with you. That's a promise we intend to keep.
